HOW CAN PARENTS HELP?
- Be actively involved and supportive when appropriate
- By providing a reasonably peaceful, suitable place in which children can do their homework
- By making it clear to children that you value homework and support the school by explaining how it can help their learning
- By encouraging your children and praising them during their homework
- By encouraging children to take responsibility for ensuring homework tasks are brought home, completed and returned to school punctually
- By encouraging/accompanying library visits
- By playing games that help develop skills in Numeracy and Literacy
- By using everyday resources to reinforce learning, e.g. reading signs, looking at clocks, discussing the cost of items etc.
- By helping the children develop social skills through club/group activities
