FIRST AID/MEDICINES

Children who become ill or who are injured in school are tended to by available staff.  A decision is taken on whether to administer first aid, contact parents or send the child back to class.  Where possible we try to keep pupils in school as they often show remarkable powers of recovery!

The school nurse informs us that medicine prescribed for "three times a day" does not need to be taken in school time.  Where parents do require us to administer medicine during the school day we must legally have a completed medical consent form (available from reception).  We cannot administer medicine without this.  Medicine should be clearly marked with the child's name.  All medicine should be handed in to school reception.  The exception to this is asthma inhalers which may be kept by the children in class in a box for use when needed.  Again, please make sure they are clearly labelled with the child's name.

We would ask that children who have been sick during the night or before school are not sent into school.  Our experiences suggest that they are a source of infection to other pupils, are often sick in school, and having been told by parents that they can contact home if they feel ill at school, wish to do so at the earliest opportunity.

SECURITY

When visiting the school for any reason please report first to the school reception so that we are aware of who is on the premises.

Please use the main entrance doors (next to the cycle racks) and not the doors from the playground.

Visitors spending any length of time in the school will be asked to sign in and out of the visitors book.
