Reports
You should have received your child’s interim progress report at the end of last week. I hope that the information it contained was useful in helping to identify progress made to date during this academic year. Whenever there is a change of format there is potential for confusion and I thank a small number of parents for bringing some anomalies to my attention. I believe that, when read in conjunction with the information you will receive at the forthcoming parents’ evenings, any uncertainties about grades and levels will be clarified. However, do feel free to come and see me should you wish to discuss reports for any reason.
Coats and Shelter
Have you noticed how many supporters still want to stand up at football matches, even when there are all-seater stadia? Creatures of habit! I have noticed that during our most recent monsoon period, we too have habits which we find difficult to shake off. Children arrive at school from 8.30 a.m. onwards. It is raining. There is a nice new shelter on the playground. Children stand in the middle of the playground getting wet. Woe is me! If your child is likely to arrive at school before 8.45 a.m. on a wet day, could you remind them to use the sheltered area? Similarly, it is advantageous if all pupils come to school in a coat during winter (I know it is not a trendy thing to wear at the comp., but it does help keep children warm and dry). The weather often changes during the course of the day and coats may be required at break and lunch times.
I will be away from school on courses and educational visits, after today, until Thursday 31st January. In my absence Mrs Warren, Mr Millington or Mrs Jones will be available to deal with any problems or queries you may have that cannot be answered by class teachers or admin staff.
Thank you for the many positive responses I have received since last Friday. “To infinity … and beyond!”
Yours sincerely
