Dear Parents
Further to my letter and severe weather warning last week, I would like to share a few important snippets of information that I managed to overlook. They are, in no particular order (cue skate-off!):
Tesco Computers for Schools (see attached letter)
Details of an opportunity for all parents to attend a meeting to be addressed by Mr Barry Jackson, B.Sc. whose children attended CVJS some years ago. If, like me, you sometimes wonder whether your children are on the same planet, this may be what you have been waiting for. The meeting will take place in the school hall on Wednesday 2nd April at 7.00 p.m. and will last approximately 45 minutes. See attached letter.
The Railway Children
On Tuesday 1st April at 2.00 p.m. a visiting theatre group will perform The Railway Children. All pupils are invited to watch this children’s classic tale brought to life by professional actors (I had hoped Jenny Agutter would be making an appearance!) This is a “Kids for a Quid” production! A £1 voluntary contribution will help us to offset the considerable cost of this exciting venture. (Contributions via class teachers please).
Inter-House Football
Matches will take place on the afternoon of Monday 31st March, weather permitting. Your child should have informed you if he/she is participating. Obviously, suitable kit will be required on the day. Do feel free to come along and watch should you wish to do so.
Robin Hood
Auditions for the school production of Robin Hood will be held after school on Tuesday 1st April. (Don’t throw those old tights away yet!)
Book Fair
Our recent book fair resulted in over £150 worth of free books for the school. Mrs Jones would like to thank everyone who contributed to more than £750 spent at this event.
Year 5 and 6 Thursday Writers have been busy writing magazines. These will be on sale from tomorrow. If your child would like to buy one or both magazines then we are charging 20p per copy. They both make great holiday reading.
A week on Friday we will break up for the “Spring Break”. School will finish at 3.20 p.m. as usual. Could all cup winners from last term remember to return trophies to school prior to our final assembly please.
After a very successful period of keeping our playground free of adults/toddlers/scooters etc. at the beginning and end of the day, matters seem to have regressed of late. I know that the “diagonal” is the shortest way to cross the playground to get to the infant school, and I will be co-ordinating our approach with Mrs Rayers to try to alleviate the problem, but I thank all of you who wait patiently beyond the yellow lines for your continued co-operation.
Yours sincerely,
D A Clough
